Security forces in Katsina State have rescued three kidnap victims in Mabai following a swift operation by troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB), the state government confirmed on Wednesday.
The victims—identified as Umar Isa (27), Abdulrahman Sa’ada (28), and Usman Auwal (60)—were discovered in the early hours of Tuesday near Anguwan Kasale village, bound in chains in a bushy area. The rescue followed a distress call received around 7:00 a.m., prompting immediate deployment of security personnel to the scene.
According to officials, the victims were taken into custody and are scheduled to be moved to Kankara Local Government for the removal of restraints before being handed over to authorities for further care and support.
Katsina’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mua’zu, praised the swift response of the troops, describing it as a reflection of the state’s strengthened security framework.
“The administration of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda remains committed to safeguarding every citizen. We continue to enhance coordination with security agencies to combat criminal activity,” Mua’zu said.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant and provide timely information to authorities to aid future operations.
